Hi my friends,
Some parts of the world celebrate Mother’s Day this weekend.
“What do you want for Mother’s Day?” asked my little one. To that I thought for a few minutes, and responded, “Nothing, I just want to sit at home, on my couch, in my pajamas, all day, watching movies, eating junk, and most of all, no one asking me anything. Lastly, I don’t want a messy kitchen!” I added quite sternly.
He looked at me like, I just wanted to know what to make for you. Oh, well.
It’s that time again for Indians to slap colors on each other. A festival which brings people together, a festival of camaraderie and jollity. Holi – the festival of COLORS.
India does have a lot of festivals, and the whole country turns into a colorful atmosphere. Among these festivals, some are religious, some are based on seasons, and some are of national importance. I consider this festival in particular to be a more free spirited, joyous occasion for the young and old and everyone in between. It’s a festival where people forget anger, sadness and join in for a day of fun, food and become kids at heart.
May through July are some of my most emotional months. There’s just so much going on. In those few months are my kids’ bdays, my closest friend’s bday, my cousin’s bday, and, of course, Mothers Day.
Using a recipe of a friend or family gives me the feeling of closeness. It’s like they are here with me in my kitchen guiding me. Do you feel that too?
As the evening sun is shining through the window, I hear the birds chirping, waking you me up from my nap. Memories of Sunday are quite beautiful. A nap after a good lunch of Biryani and pepper chicken put us in a sort of food coma. That didn’t stop any one of us from taking it easy the rest of the day. The biggest incentive for waking up were hot pakoras, maybe sweet bondas, jalebis or someone knocking your door to drop off something.
Hope your week is going good my friends.
It’s been a good one for us. It is festival season, so lot of dressing up, dancing and eating. All the great greasy food we are enjoying is clearly been taken care of by the dancing, if not I will have a lot of pounds to run off in 2014.:)
HAPPY SUNDAY GUYS!!
My week was quite an eventful one.
Have you ever silently scolded someone and a few moments later thanked them(in your mind)?
We were in a small store which sells school uniforms. I finished my purchases and quickly decided to check my receipt with the number of clothes. Left my phone for 40 seconds on the counter. A minute later realized that I didn’t have my phone and I was standing exactly in the same place. IT WAS GONE…
The manner of giving is worth more than the gift. ~Pierre Corneille, Le Mentuer
With busy schedules around school year, entertaining can get a bit stressful. In summer, there’s a lot of free time and it’s time to socialize. We all need a reason to get together for a cup of coffee or just for a chat. 🙂
The blog keeps me busy, and I finally feel I can give back something and feel rewarded in a way. After all the endless hours browsing and admiring talented people all around, I’ve learnt and created so much along the way. Journey is fun and never ends.
Gifts from the kitchen are gifts from the heart. I like to make take-home gifts, and although it might be the simplest of things, I have seen my friends liking it a lot. These are few of the simple gift ideas, and you can customize each one. You could print a small recipe and attach it so that your friends can try it at home too.
