Hot Chocolate in a Stick – Edible gift idea

December 10, 2017 By Asha Shivakumar

Rich and decadent, with just four ingredients, hot chocolate in a stick just takes minutes to make.  However, it is devoured slowly and cozily. Perfect for the holidays.

Hot Chocolate in a Stick |foodfashionparty| #hotchocolate #ediblegifts

It’s a delicious combo of different kinds of chocolate, condensed milk, with a touch of coffee too.

I saw this on Pinterest a couple of years ago and had pinned it, and I finally decided to make it this year.  Here is the original idea  Inakatrinakitchen. What a delicious idea, and it’s so great for edible gifts.

‘Tis the season of giving, of togetherness and support.  A sensitive subject I’d like to touch upon during this season of giving is giving credit….

Skillet Roast Chicken with Sumac and Lemon

November 28, 2017 By Asha Shivakumar

Skillet Roasted  Chicken Breast with sumac and lemon.  It’s good, easy, healthy lunch or dinner and comes together so quickly.

Skillet Roast Chicken with Sumac and Lemon |foodfashionparty| #skilletchicken This is so so good!!!!!

This skillet roast chicken with sumac and lemons, I love to serve over some plain rice or coconut milk rice and it’s a nice meal in one.  Add some grilled beans or asparagus and even better.  The sumac itself has a very lemony undertone and the fresh lemon juice just adds to the flavor.  Sumac in itself is not spicy, so I like to add a good dose of chili powder or cayenne pepper.  We thoroughly enjoyed it.

I’m always on a quest for simple and easy meals that’s packed with flavor….

Spiced Maple Apple-Persimmon Sangria |foodfashionparty| #giveaway #autumncocktail

I’m sitting on the stairs of a playground, typing this post, while watching my little one play with his cricket team.  It’s chilly (at least for me) 45 degree weather.  Wrapped up in a flannel long throw, and a warmer inside my jacket, I’m holding a warm cup of coffee and a beanie.  The skies turn from a beautiful blueish orange to a midnight blue, in seconds.  I can suddenly feel a breeze colder than it was a few minutes ago. All of a sudden, the blazing flood lights turn on, and the child in me blows fog to see how cold it is. All I can think of is how thankful I am that I am on this side of the fence….

Before this week is over, many of us would have had a couple get-togethers with family or friends. And this pumpkin cake will be made at least twice at my home.

I have to admit: Thanksgiving is my favorite celebration among the many American traditions.  I find the meaning behind it intriguing, and I enjoy the holiday.  It’s about family, and being grateful and thankful for everything.

It’s a perfect early evening, with a glass of apple sangria in hand by the fire place, listening to Al Green.

The weather’s been a bit muggy last week, and it oddly makes me happy.  I enjoy bundling up and not moving around in this weather.  That’s also maybe because I am a hermit :).  It’s finally feeling like the holidays are approaching….

HOW I FEEL AND WHAT THE BOOK IS TO ME

It’s time to celebrate.  I finally feel the excitement!!

This book is my baby.  It’s the moment I’ve been waiting for years.  It’s my dream, that has been brewing in my mind, even before I knew how to make a cup of coffee.  I don’t know which leg to stand on.  It’s all too exciting, and a bit daunting.  Soon, my little book will take on its own journey, across book stores and around the world.  It’s been a very exciting, and wild, journey.  I’ve learnt so much in the process, which has been very empowering for me.

“There are moments which mark your life. Moments when you realize nothing will ever be the same and time is divided into two parts, before this, and after this…” – Fallen (1998)…
