Change is weird.

I’ve had this post as a draft for two years. The ticker at the footer reads 2,200 words. Oye. Every day for the past week I’ve tried to sit down and write about the change. I know what to write: I want to write about the changes I’ve gone through in the last two years. Sometimes it comes when you least expect it. It is the unexpected where you learn the lessons that have the greatest impact on your life. Blood Orange Fizz

The vibrant color of blood oranges makes this blood orange fizz a beautiful drink and absolutely delicious and special.

It’s January and there is an abundance of blood oranges in my farmers market and I cannot get enough of it. Even better when a friend who has a major green thumb, with a large yard who grows all sorts of citrus trees shares some of her precious stash. She is like, I better get to it before my squirrels. I get lucky because she doesn’t know what to do with all the beauties. It’s probably my favorite citrus fruit, so I happily offer to take any amount she gives:).

Few weeks and it’s gone. POOF. And we have to wait a year for blood orange season….

I’m sitting on the stairs of a playground, typing this post, while watching my little one play with his cricket team. It’s chilly (at least for me) 45 degree weather. Wrapped up in a flannel long throw, and a warmer inside my jacket, I’m holding a warm cup of coffee and a beanie. The skies turn from a beautiful blueish orange to a midnight blue, in seconds. I can suddenly feel a breeze colder than it was a few minutes ago. All of a sudden, the blazing flood lights turn on, and the child in me blows fog to see how cold it is. All I can think of is how thankful I am that I am on this side of the fence….
