To make your decisions wisely, you should have a clear mind. For a clear mind, you need to focus on you and take breaks every once in a while.

We all have gone through our struggles in the last many months. The range varies. We have also come/coming out of it stronger and better than ever. For one what the pandemic has taught me is: what I missed and what I didn’t, what’s important and what is not….

Hotel Style Vegetable Kurma

Some recipes are born out of necessity and this is definitely one of them.

I have a hankering for authentic meals quite often. At times being in US, with below average restaurant food makes me miss the traditional curries that we get in India even more. This mixed vegetable curry comes with dosa or idli in many restaurants and it’s so special, simple and so comforting.

My Vegetable Curry recipe has been in the works for a few months now and while you’ll need bit of fresh produce, the bulk of this recipe relies on pantry staples — spices. Then, with the fresh produce required, most of it is shelf stable for quite a long time — the onions, ginger, garlic, and potatoes….

If you’ve never immersed yourself in the wonders of this region, you have to start with this recipe. This Caribbean style vegetable stew is AHMAZZING! I’d say its got the touch of Southern Indian and Bengali touch from the mustard, and the locals bring in the fried plantain element to this with toasted coconut. Kohlrabi/Noolkol Edamame Fry |Foodfashionparty| #southindianrecipes #kohlrabirecipesI’m always curious about other people’s comfort food.  The stuff you eat when you’re sick or sad.  I feel like it tells you so much about that person, where they came from, what they turn to feel better.

And when I ask people so many secrets spill out, gooey mushy nostalgic childhood food, some’s grandmother’s mutton, someone else who goes to a tiny box-line restaurant in old Shivajinagar for the flavors of that chicken that’s unbeatable, some else, who makes an elaborate meal from scratch to lose themselves in the method and to forget….

We share and create some of our most important stories surrounded by food. It comforts us, nourishes us, and heals us. So far, I haven’t met one who didn’t have a special dish or fond food memory to look back on.

Cauliflower Chili Stir Fry aka Chili Ghobi

July 22, 2018 By Asha Shivakumar

Home style Chili Ghobi aka Cauliflower stir fry is spicy, delicious and nutritious. It’s an easy Indian side dish, requiring only a few ingredients. It goes perfect side with rotis or chapathis.

Cauliflower Chili Stir Fry aka Chili Ghobi #veganside #indianfoodphotography #cauliflowercurryLife is a journey, and this journey is all about change and evolution. Friendships are just like that. It has the honeymoon phase, the lull period, blossoming friendship, wanting something more, the end, or the friendship that lasts forever.   I’ve tried hard to understand its nuances, but I usually just go with the flow.

I’ve realized over the years that I am OK with change, both in relationships and friendships.  We start liking someone and their company, for what they are.  The things you admire about someone in the first place might become quite annoying as you get closer to them….

As far as you can see, as much as you can.  Across the ocean or simply across the river.  The extent you can walk in someone else’s shoes, or atleast eat their food, it’s a plus for everybody. Open your mind, get up of the couch, and move.”  Anthony Bourdain.

Healthy Creamy Kale-Lentil Daal

Cremy Healthy Kale Lentil Daal -Indian style, Vegan #indiandaal #vegetarian

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Wishing you all a very wonderful 2017!!

I woke up on NYE, reflecting on how it was a wonderful 2016.

When I say wonderful, it was, with some complexity.  It had its ups and downs.  And when I say wonderful, I meant that I chose to focus on the wonderful things.  I tried to focus on the positive things.  I learnt how to heal myself and look at what I had in front of me.  I learnt that there’s no right way of life, no right way of living, or a perfect life.  Perfection is a perception.  It’s what we make of it.…

August 17, 2015 By Asha Shivakumar

Indo-Thai Mixed Vegetable/Squash Red Curry with lentils and Pearl Couscous

You’ve heard it many times, read many experiences and you will hear it many more times.

When I stepped out into the cold chilly San Francisco airport as a new bride, I really had no clue what I was getting into….

Really helpless and very thankful because for the name God, I could not make a decent coffee.  Eating out was the only option until I got really bored of it….
